چکیده
The present study aims to assess differences in executive functioning between monolingual and multilingual 23-month-old toddlers, both when dichotomizing multilingualism assessing it on a continuum. It is hypothesized that multilinguals, individuals with greater non-dominant language exposure, more translation equivalents, would perform better the following domains: response inhibition, attentional flexibility, regulation. No are expected for working memory. Early Executive Functions Questionnaire, newly developed parental report, used measure four functions of interest. Multilinguals exposure have significantly higher inhibition; however, no noted any other function. Additionally, associations equivalents found. Post-hoc analyses reveal production had positive correlation findings support notion domain-specific cognitive advantage toddlers.

The effects of bilingual growth on toddlers' executive function.
The mastery of two languages provides bilingual speakers with cognitive benefits over monolinguals, particularly on cognitive flexibility and selective attention. However, extant research is limited to comparisons between monolinguals and bilinguals at a single point in time. This study investigated whether growth in bilingual proficiency, as shown by an increased number of translation equivale...

متن کاملSpecificity of the bilingual advantage for memory: examining cued recall, generalization, and working memory in monolingual, bilingual, and trilingual toddlers
The specificity of the bilingual advantage in memory was examined by testing groups of monolingual, bilingual, and trilingual 24-month-olds on tasks tapping cued recall, memory generalization and working memory. For the cued recall and memory generalization conditions, there was a 24-h delay between time of encoding and time of retrieval. In addition to the memory tasks, parent-toddler dyads co...
